Campaign for Real Ale

Campaign for Real Ale

2019 August Social

For its August Social, Fenland probably scored a first for the Branch. A combined cricket match with real ale. Malcolm had arranged a get together at Sleaford CC where a semi final of the Stephen Bradford Invitation Trophy took place between Lindum and Grantham. The sunny evening saw several Fen folk sat out, along with other cricket spectators, on a sunny evening and enjoyed a most entertaining game of 100 balls for each side. Plenty of action and some excellent fielding and attack bowling saw Grantham squeeze through to the final where they will meet Sleaford, which was due to be played on 14th August, but has been delayed.

Match in progress Eager Spectators

Fenland members manage to tear themselves away during the action to refill pints of Black Sheep Pale Ale, XB and also bottles of Titanic Plum Porter.

After the match more ale was supped in the Club Lounge.

In the pavilion

An excellent evening all round - pity there weren't a few more CAMRA members there to enjoy it. Thanks to Malcolm for arranging. More next season please.
