November 2013 - Ruskington & Leasingham

Walkers about to leave the Black Bull Lost in Leasingham

The sky was overcast as we set off from the Black Bull. Ivan led us through the village and then out into the countryside. We followed good paths and cut across stony fields. We managed to take a lot of the field with us as the soil stuck better than super glue to boots, shoes and trousers. Once at the field gate we all tried different ways to get rid of the mud. It seemed a long way before we saw Leasingham in front of us and despite the overcast sky most people had shed layers of clothing and were yearning for a pint (or two).

Once in Leasingham there was a difference of opinion. We were following the road but looking for a footpath to the right. We had gone too far, so retraced our steps. We then headed into a small Close of bungalows. Again we retraced our steps. At this point the group split into 3. One group followed one path, a second group went a different way and the third group kept to the road. The third group were the last into the pub. The Duke of Wellington had two beers for us to try, Doom Bar and Bass.

The walk back was far more straight forward and followed the road for a while before heading off down a wooded track back into Ruskington. All were ready for more beer and food by the time we reached The Black Bull. We had Salem Porter and Batemans XB to choose from and all enjoyed a roast lunch. Thanks to Ivan for a very enjoyable walk.
