Campaign for Real Ale

June 2011 - Ruskington & North Ings Farm Museum

About to set off from North Ings Farm Despite the impending inclement weather 14 set out from North Ings Farm, led by Malcolm, on to Dorrington village then across several cereal fields to Ruskington. Here the trekkers divided company - some to the Shoulder of Mutton, for Doom Bar, Bombardier, Ringwood Fortyniner, or the ubiquitous John Smiths, others to the Black Bull where XB was dispensed in good form. To show no bias the parties swapped over to sample beers from the other pub.

The return journey was a little damp on the legs to say the least, with crop fields without wide enough paths, hence the wet trousers. Back to North Ings for BBQ or sandwiches plus beers from Sleaford - Midnight Runner- a dark deceptively drinkable brew at 5.3% and Sleaford Pale a palatable beer, were attacked with relish. A great day out despite the weather (well it had to come sometime) but pity that Fenland folk didn't get chance to ride the railway - never mind - always next time.

Many thanks to Malcolm, Sue and Tim for inviting Fenland members into their farm museum.
