King John at the Wheatsheaf

There will be a launch event of the book “The Lost Treasure of King John” by Richard Waters at The Wheatsheaf Hotel, Swineshead at 7.30pm on Thursday 15 January 2015, more details are below. Swineshead has a pivotal involvement in the events. 2016 is the 800 anniversary of King John losing his treasure in The Wash and later the same day, according to legend; he was poisoned at Swineshead Abbey. He then died at Newark a few days later. These events occurred in the year following the attaching of his seal to Magna Carta at Runnymede.

To commemorate these events the book “The Lost Treasure of King John” by Richard Waters is being published in January 2015.

The launch of the book, priced at £8.00, will be held at the Wheatsheaf Hotel, Swineshead on Thursday 15th January 2015 commencing at 7.30pm.

The launch event will include:

· Presentaton by Richard Waters using visual aids of the background and research for the book.

· Presentation by the publisher.

· Discount of £1.00 on any book purchased at the event.

· Free glass of wine or soft drink on arrival.

· Light refreshments.

· Displays of local history.
