March 2011 - Boston Pubs

one of the Fenland Branch founding members The March Social was held on the 18th, during the week that CAMRA celebrated its 40th Anniversary.

A select band of fenland members gathered at the Carpenter's Arms in Boston to mark the event. The bar staff enthusiastically joined in with the celebrations, dressing up especially for the occasion, or perhaps it was due to the day coinciding with Comic Relief's Red Nose Day.

The beers on offer, all in excellent condition, were Batemans XB, XXXB, Hooker and Fyne Ales of Argyll Avalanche.

The group then moved on to Goodbarns Yard, where the choice was Greene King Old Speckled Hen, and Timothy Taylor Landlord, again acceptable pints.

At this point, a number of the group had to leave to catch the last train back to Heckington and Sleaford, arriving at the station in good time, but noting that Shunters on the station, which usually has one or two real ales, was closed. Hopefully this was just for that night only.
