Campaign for Real Ale

February 2011 - Shoulder of Mutton, Ruskington

A round dozen Fenland folk gathered in the bar of the Shoulder and managed to find a corner with tables and seating in this bustling pub on Friday evening.

Beers on offer were Sharp's Doom Bar (proving so popular that a second barrel was put on during the course of the evening), Well's Bombardier, GK Speckled Hen, and John Smith's Cask. Both main rooms of this low beamed pub were busy all night and the service by the bar maids found to be spot on. A credit to the licensee.

According to local knowledge the premises used to be a butchers shop - hence the name. Unlike many pubs no food is served here so even more reason to assume it is the beer and company that make this so popular.
